This is an awesome educational book. Gives perspectives on YL and on many other sources in the field of E.O.'s as well as educates you on Essential Oils. Be prepared it is very educational, meaning it can get a little snoozish. But it is a Chemistry book which anyone and everyone can understand. If you aren't that interested in all the bits and pieces of this science and field maybe not the book for you. I however love it, even if I have to have coffee while reading some portions :) A great educational tool for anyone working in the field, going into the field, or wanting to educate themselves for their own personal health reasons. It is a awesome find. I was so happy to receive it for the Amazon price!
Chemistry was my primary passion for 14 years of my life, including conducting graduate research in neurochemistry, but I almost didn't buy this book because of one of the reviewers saying that it was "replete with errors".But the book has so many great reviews I decided to take a chance on it, even though I already own a large collection of excellent aromatherapy books. Boy am I glad I did!The book is superb!The nit-picking reviewer who criticized it really doesn't know that they're talking about, the vast majority of the content is rock-solid.And the book is entertaining, informative, and has superb and extensive tables of detailed information that one can't find anywhere else.Priceless.
Written by a chemistry teacher who became an expert on essential oils, I have read through this book three or four times. The use of these oils extends far far beyond something that smell good, and can be used to revitalize and help heal the body. Makes sense, since that's what they do in plants, and they also work incredible well in us humans, if we know how to use them. Very highly recommended book for understanding how these oils actually work in our own bodies.

I love the fact that it breaks down why and how essential oils work in our bodies and how plants were divinely created to supply our bodies with healing and can maintain our health via essential oils. Anyone wanting an in depth look at how oils work to improve and maintain our health should read this book!
This book has 4 parts, each a treasure for anyone who wants to be confident in using and sharing essential oils. Think of this book as a reference book in utilizing the nearly 40 tables of data found in Part Two to find substitutes oils for a given situation from amongst 113 single oils listed there. Also, thoroughly digest the Part Four Appendices where one can find a priceless annotated bibliography of the 78 books used to support this book (find which are recommended and why or why not), a reproducible outline and complementary handouts one can use to teach what they've learned in the book to others (including two copy-ready versions of the Period Table and a structural diagrams handout), a comprehensive glossary, and much more.
