This book came highly recommended by a friend who has re-kindled a passion for golf. Too many well meaning "experts" have laid the foundation of confusion, with other obligations reducing the available time to get comfortable with a consistent swing. Get Yourself In Golf Shape is helping stabilize my approach, re-teach my body to play more consistently and enjoy the inadequate time I have to play a game I love. I'm saving myself money and avoiding frustration by not seeking the counsel of a "pro" which requires more time, practice and patience; commodities I have in short supply.
This is an excellent golf fitness book in that the author takes you through all eight segments of the swing and then designs stretches and exercises to help you improve in each area. Your core and therefore your posture will improve dramatically. The section on impact with its variety of wrist rollups and curls worked that area like nothing that I had done in years. My only quibble with the book is that some of the back extension work should be followed child's pose stretches to relax that area. With that being said this is a must have for golfer's looking for that physical edge on the golf course.
This is an excellent book with easy to understand descriptions and explanations reinforced with photographs. There's an 11 day program that I've been following, hoping it would help my golf game. Wow! I was only on day 3 of the program and seeing improvements in my drives - they're longer and straighter. My husband repeatedly said "Wow" and said I was starting to out-drive him! I told him that maybe he should start doing the 11 day program also. There's excellent drills and stretches that should be incorporated into a daily routine. I highly recommend this book for getting into "golf shape".

Fantastic book! Well written and covers all the points I needed to know to stay in shape and get in shape when I am not there! Loved it!
As an ACE-certified personal trainer who has no knowledge of golf with a client interested in improving their golf game, this book was very helpful to me. It not only showed me what steps a golfer needs to make for set-up, swing, etc., it also showed me exercises to specifically help in each step. The book shows how to perform these sports-specific exercises and tells me why my client needs to do them.
This item arrived quickly and in good condition. The exercises in this book would improve play for more golfers than most if not all 'how to' books on the market. Great book!
I am an older, beginning golfer and this was exactly what I was looking for. As the other positive reviews indicate, the book is organized around parts of the swing and there is a great mix of strength and flexibility exercises. Each section explains how the exercises will help improve the swing. An added bonus is Reid's discussion of the swing. I found some of her discussions of the nature of the swing and how to achieve a proper swing to be some of the best explanations I have read. I was initially intimidated by the idea of an 11 day program, but each day has a reasonable mix of exercises that one could get through without making a major time commitment at the gym; most of the stretching exercises and some of the strength exercises can be done in normal settings without equipment.
